    Kerlix gauze is another useful item for your first aid kit. Yesterday mom sustained a cut on the palm of her hand: how do you bandage an area that 'folds', and how do you secure it without injuring tender, elderly skin? Here's your answer! I cleaned the cut with diluted Povidone Iodine soap, rinsed it well, and patted it dry with sterile 4x4s. I placed three more sterile 4x4s in her palm over the cut, and secured them by wrapping her palm with this gauze. It held the 4x4s in place, applies gentle pressure, and acts as a visual reminder to mom not to get her hand wet. It healed very nicely, and the tape I used to secure the end of the gauze was tape-to-gauze only, none was touching her skin. Between a few boxes of these and a few boxes of sterile 4x4s (12 ply) you can bandage just about anything. myotc store has great prices, so get a couple to spare.
